Providing Solutions to Local and Global Problems – Young people can help

The 2020 ESRI Education Summit was inspirational to me as a life-long Peace Builder.   As you read through this post, my aim was to have my ‘guiding principles’ deeply embedded, that building and reinforcing attitudes, institutions and structures that can actively work for peace and better future for ourselves and our children should be important to all of us.  (Note:  Are you using the ESRI SCHOOL BUNDLE of applications in your school?   If not, WHY NOT?   It’s free, and being able to master its software applications will help you get jobs in the future.  https://www.esri.com/en-us/industries/education/schools/schools-mapping-software-bundle )

Today, pre-empting conflict and helping societies overcome disagreements must be actively worked on to prevent violence.  This year’s ESRI Education Summit brought together an incredible range of skilled persons who understand that we are more able to use the internet, technology and the vast array of tools to access DATA, and use it to improve our lives. (Do you know what all 17 Sustainable Development Goals are? Read about SDG17, targets 17, 18 and 19. They are all about data collection, spatial analysis and making a better future for all.)

I have a FOCUS on spatial thinking, as well as getting students and young professionals excited about being agents of change.  CROSS-Disciplinary collaborations are important for me to promote (not only within the school, but between schools anywhere in the world.   Dovetail geospatial with mobile GIS and cartography, and submit your work to the Sustainable Development Goals Network (SDSN)…
